Alan Myers, renowned national journalist
I first met Kevin in 1999 when he arrived at Everton on loan from Trabzonspor. Kevin’s arrival at Goodison Park was nothing short of inspirational, not only for the Club, his teammates and the crucial goals he scored in those first few months and beyond, but also for me personally.
Kev and I immediately hit it off as friends and not just colleagues, his incredibly kind nature and supportive friendship were so important to me at a difficult time. I often described Kevin’s arrival into a room like the lights going on as he walked in, that was his infectious personality and beaming smile, which he exuded every time you met him.
Kevin’s capacity to search out the underdog and the people who needed help and support was palpable, he had an unerring ability to lift you to a better frame of mind and a positive outlook on life.
I was absolutely honoured when Lorna asked me to be an ambassador for the ‘Kevin Campbell Foundation’ and I’m delighted to offer my help and support to such a wonderful organisation, which truly reflects the person Kevin was to all he met.
